Dear Friends
I was very average student at school, 30 years ago, but at least received Matrix Exemption. That meant I could go to university some day. I did not go to university after school and started my retail career straight out the army in 1991. Twenty years later I decided to get a university education and did my MBA with NMMU (Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University) in the ‘old’ PE.
I graduated in 2014 and received my degree in 2015 with average of 70% across all subjects and my dissertation. I dedicated my dissertation to my daughter, and challenged her to achieve the same or better for her Grade 12 results. This was five years ago, long forgotten. What did my daughter get as her average for grade 12, class of 2020 ? She Achieved 70% 🙂 so proud.
With challenging year behind the class of 2020, many stand before bigger challenges. First year university, jobs and possible internships. She is on her way to Rhodes University this weekend as a new chapter in her life starts. As parents and business owners we support, love, encourage and are self impressed with the youth’s resilience and tenacity.
Wishing the class of 2021 all the best, especially my daughter xx
Regards, Charles
