Dear Friends

Journaling – According to wiki ‘ system that keeps track of changes not yet committed to, system’s main part is recording the intention of such changes, known as journal. The description is actually better than it thought. I have been journaling every week for years and I have a two tear approach. One – Reflection on achievements of set goals and events. Two my plan for the next month, year or 5 years. With the current world pandemic we will all be forced to revisit our goals and plans for near and distant future. Most of us had a retirement plan, even that will need critical re-examination and adjustment where needed.

The Harvard story goes as follows, They took 100 students and asked them who journaled? About 12 put their hands up. They then asked how many had the next 5-10 years planned out on paper? Where you would like to work, live, personal life and finances. There were 3 that put their hands up. They then got those 100 students together 10 years later. What do you think they found? The 3 students earned more than the balance of student combined. Hectic …

In my case I wanted to work abroad and knew doing my MBA would place me in the top percentile. I started planning and journaling about it in 2009, 2011, I relocated to East London. In 2012 I started my MBA with NMMU as a part time distance learning student. What actually motivated me is that I was declined a job because I did not have a university education. I promised myself that would never happen again and successfully completed my MBA with honors in 2014, graduating in 2015.

My challenge to you is plan as best possible, stretch yourself where possible and achieve the unachievable.

Regards, Charles
